Why should I get SSL/HTTPS on my website?
SSL and HTTPS helps to establish trust between you and your visitors. It also helps with your ranking on search engines like Google.
HTTPS is what secures and encrypts the information that moves between your users and our server, to help prevent it from getting read or modified by others.
How can I get SSL/HTTPS for free?
TinkerHost provides free SSL for you. Below is a simple guide to get SSL installed for free.
To start, open the client area, and locate “SSL Certificates” in the sidebar, click the “Create Certificate” button, and enter your domain name.
If you are using CloudFlare on your website, select “Self-Signed”, if you are not using Cloudflare, select “GoGetSSL”. Click submit, and wait for the system to process the certificate.
If you select “GoGetSSL”, it can take a few minutes to generate the necessary information with GoGetSSL. After the processing has finished, you will see an option for one-click CNAME setup. Click the blue button, and allow the system to start the validation process. This validation process can take up to an hour, so grab something to eat and wait for it to finish.
If you are using “Self-Signed”, OR you have finished validating the CNAME records from GoGetSSL, it is time to install the certificate. To install the certificate, follow the on-screen instructions, installation takes less than a minute. After the installation is complete, it may take 10 minutes before your website is ready to serve secure connections.
