How do I fully backup my website?
Backing up your website is easy, and you only need a computer!
First, login to your account over FTP (We recommend using FileZilla) and copy the “htdocs” folder from the server to your computer. If you have multiple domain names connected to your account, you will want to download the “htdocs” folder that is connected to each domain name. After the download is complete, we recommend renaming the folder on your computer to include the word “backup”, as well as the date.
Next, you’ll want to backup your database. Backing up your database does not take as much time, and is just as easy. Login to the control panel for the account you wish to backup, and select “PHPMyAdmin”. Backup only one database at a time. For each database you wish to backup, select the “admin” button, then the “Export” tab at the top of the screen once the application has finished loading. You can use the default settings that appear when taking a database backup. After you save the file, we recommend that rename it on your computer to include the word “backup”, the date, and the database name
How do I import a backup to my website?
Importing a backup to your website is just as easy as taking one!
To upload a backup of your files, login to FTP (We recommend FileZilla), and copy the contents of your backup file into the htdocs folder. PLEASE NOTE that you should not upload a zip file, but each individual file instead. If you are using FileZilla, you can just drag and drop the files and folders from your computer to our server.
To upload a backup of your database, open the database you wish to update by accessing the control panel, selecting “PHPMyAdmin”, and the database table name that you wish to update. At the top of the screen, select the “Import” tab, and upload your .sql file to the application. Note that once you submit the form, the website may seem unresponsive while it uploads your file. Depending on the size of your backup, it can take anywhere from one minute to ten.
