What is the maximum file upload size on TinkerHost, and how can I get around it?
The file size for uploads is 10MB. While you can’t upload files larger than 10MB, there is often a way to reduce the size of the file you are trying to upload.
If you are uploading a zip or other type of compressed file, you can extract the files on your computer first, then upload them to our server. For example, some larger scripts will provide you with a zip file when you download it from their website. To install it on TinkerHost, first extract the files from the zip file, then upload the extracted files to TinkerHost over FTP.
What if I cannot reduce the size of my file?
If you can’t reduce the size of your file, like with a downloadable file or a video, you can’t host that file here. However, there are still other ways you can make it work.
With videos, use a service like YouTube, then embed your video on your site. You can set your video’s status to “Unlisted” so it does not appear in search or on your chanel if you would like.
For user-downloadable content, use a file sharing service such as Google Drive or DropBox.
