“The certificate is not trusted in all web browsers” / “This website is not secure” / “This website uses an untrusted certificate”
When you visit your website over HTTPS, or use an automated SSL checker, you may get one of the errors above (Or something similar). In this article, we explain what is going on, and how to fix it.
When using an automated SSL checker
If you are using an automated SSL checker, an error may be returned even if your website is working fine over HTTPS. Because of the security system on our server to prevent bot attacks, some SSL checkers are unable to connect to your site, and return incorrect information. If your website successfully loads over HTTPS (https://your-domain.com), you can ignore any warnings and errors from automated SSL checkers.
Getting the error in your browser
If you are getting an “Untrusted Certificate” error in your browser when loading your site over HTTPS, you have incorrectly set up SSL. If you are using a Self-Signed certificate, you must also use Cloudflare on “Full” SSL mode.
If you use a Self-Signed certificate without Cloudflare, your website will not work over HTTPS. The solution is to generate a new certificate, using GoGetSSL instead. The linked article below explains the process:
