Why can’t I point my nameservers to TinkerHost?
Unfortunately, some domain registrars will perform a DNS check on our nameservers to make sure your domain is added to your account before they will save the nameserver settings. Because of the way that our hosting environment is setup, you must set your nameservers before your domain can be added to your account. So basically, your domain registrar wants your domain connected to your account first, and our system wants your nameservers set first.
This confliction causes an error, most commonly reported as “DNS Query Refused”
So how can I fix this?
New! We now offer a new way to verify your domain with TinkerHost! Using CNAME verification, you can now use almost any domain name with TinkerHost, and you don't have to worry about registrars blocking nameserver changes anymore! Check it out here.
There are two different ways that this check may be implemented. It may be implemented by your registrar (The company selling the domain name to you), or by the domain registry (The company that created the domain name).
If the check is put in place by your registrar, you can request an alternate form of verification, or transfer your domain to a registrar that does not require this additional check. We recommend NameSilo, as domains registered there work well with our hosting.
If the check is put in place by the domain registry, it is not possible to host that domain with us at this time. Hopefully, an alternate verification method will be added in the future.
The following domain extensions cannot be hosted here due to restrictions at the registry level:
The below list is in alphabetical order, but may not be complete.
.com.br
.de
.dk
.hu
.it
Additionally, most IDN domain's will not work with free hosting.
